In spite of its attempts to appear environmentally proactive, recent evidence suggests Tesco has grossly understated its true carbon footprint. A U.K. Development charity, Christian Aid, believes that Tesco's true contribution to climate change could be close to 12 times the admitted 4.13m tonnes (4.5m tons).
In addition, Tesco only earned a 'C' grade on the National Consumer Council's "Greening Supermarkets" report, which examined how supermarkets can make green shopping easier for consumers.
